Got a simple kayak at the end of the season last fall. Took it out a couple of times before the weather turned too cold and windy.
Today the weather warmed up to the mid 50’s with mild winds.
Just had to take it out for the first time this year.
Launched in our cove, Racer’s Cove.
Dunlans and Gulls ignored me.
Had to check out the new house that’s been
going up… for just over a year now.
The wind was mild but nippy. Had to stay close to
the cliffs on the north side for protection.
Lots of oysters in the shallows
About a half mile out, time to turn back.
Coming into home, the birds greeted me with their warm indifference.
Snow capped Olympics in the background.
Just the right amount of tired. I could still schlep the kayak up the stairs to our yard.
Got a ways to go to get in shape for the Spring.
