Woke up this morning with a very moody glow over the water – kinda peach colored.  By the time I got outside it was gone.  Here’s the morning view from our room:

20140127-D-Orcas-Island-(8)We lazed around this morning drinking in the sights.
A heron landed on the small island just off shore.

20140127-D-Orcas-Island-(18)She planted the flag and claimed this island for her flock.

As soon as it was light enough, Buddy the pony came out to work on keeping the lawn under control.  He takes his job very seriously.

20140127-D-Orcas-Island-(26)After breakfast and my second cup of coffee, I was antsy and ready for more exploring.  Susan was kind enough to oblige.  Instead of going directly to our car, we walked around the other side of our building to see the farm. Immediately all the chickens came running toward us.  The “head chicken in charge” talking in low gentle clucks – nonstop.

20140127-D-Orcas-Island-(33)A group of them were fascinated by Susan’s bottle of Coke. They took turns jumping up and pecking at it. Apparently they’ve never heard of Coke – this is Pepsi country up here.

20140127-D-Orcas-Island-(39)Head chicken escorted us right up to our car door.  And off we went adventuring.

Eventually we headed up to the top of Mt. Constitution in Moran State Park.

The views from up their are breathtaking!

20140127-D-Orcas-Island-(157)Explored the Moran Mansion at the Rosario Resort.  Wonderful wood work. Robert Moran was an interesting man. I would have like to have met him.

Got back to Pebble Cove Farm tuckered out.  The goats greeted us.
