At 5:30 am we headed off to Port Angeles to catch the 8 am Black Ball Ferry to Victoria.

We left the car and walked on with our rolling cases behind us and our cameras around our necks. Not looking like tourists at all.  The 1.5 hour trip went fast.

James Bay is so charming.

The Empress Hotel is behind us.  Susan’s parents had their honeymoon there.

Our hotel was a short block away – The Harbour Towers.

After checking in the concierge gave us a ride to the Fisherman’s Wharf. Got some fish n chips for lunch and took  a short walk around the “Float Houses”.

Hopped onto a Water Taxi with a family from England. Got a short tour of James Bay and got off at the Empress Hotel.

We tried catching a double decker tour bus there, but the bus was overloaded and broke down before we could take off. So we did some random exploring.

About 4 pm we caught the tour bus on it’s last tour of the day.  It was a delight.  The tour ended at the Empress Hotel, a couple short blocks from our hotel. So we walked.

Not bad for the first day.
