The sun finally came out. We’re supposed to get our first week of continuous sunshine since last September.
Launched from Coon Cove (across the street from us) at noon, an hour before high tide.
Passed our cove (Racer’s Cove),
I was paddling into the wind and had a little chop. So I headed to cliffs to get some protection.
Just as I got to the cliffs, a young eagle flew over me and landed in the top of that dead tree.
Hasn’t got his white tail yet.
Followed the shoreline to the Foul Weather Bluff Wildlife Reserve. Got there in 35 minutes. Not bad paddling against the wind and tide.
Didn’t stay long. The tide was going to change in about a half hour.
With the wind at my back and the tide flowing with me, it was much easier paddling back.
Made it back from the Reserve in 20 minutes. YAY!
This is a sit on top kayak so there are 3 sets of drain holes. I forgot to bring the plugs for those holes. Wish I’d plugged the holes under my seat. Had a soggy bum when I got home.
In flat water there’s no issue, but with the chop, water shot up thru the holes, then drained right back out.
