This morning I saw Spot Jr swoop up into a tree across the cove. Spot Jr is a gangly young eagle who does not have his mature coloring yet and is still figuring out how to be an eagle. I grabbed my long 500mm lens camera and went out on the deck to take a couple of shots.

Because of the low morning light, I had to set my shutter speed very slow and this long lens is a manual focus. All this is OK for shooting Spot Jr sitting still.
But Spot Jr decided to fly straight at me!
He came so close, my telephoto lens could not focus on him – about 10 feet away. Then he swooped over to Elwood the Heron.
The Crows came in to give Spot Jr a little guidance.
They encouraged him to return to his tree.
